Beauty.

What makes beauty? Beautiful, handsome, attractive...what makes one beautiful in another ones mind?

My inspiration for this post all started while I was watching a film on the Sundance channel, called "Paris" a french film with a sad yet life awakening plot. Anyways, the older man who was a college professor looked out into the sea of students a young girl caught his eye...his words to himself were as follows; "And I thought, why? Why her? Why is she so beautiful? And why are all the others so...not ugly...but lets say, banal, invisible?"

So what is it? What does leave others so invisible? Our minds react to what it sees, when it is sunny out we squint, when we walk into a room full of bright colors our eyes wonder to take everything in, when shopping our eyes go to what we find most appealing...all sorts of other fashion lays ahead but we only chose what we like...why? Why is it only certain features catch our eye?

We all have a "type" no matter if we try and deny it, a type isn't just the look but the persona of an individual.

Who made the universal rule of what is attractive and what is not? The answer is NO ONE. Not a single person can change what they enjoy looking at, what image makes their pupils dilate and their heart skip a beat.

Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

Stay true to yourself and have a great week!

Boy Meets Girl...

When we were young. We had not a worry in the world, school started in morning and ended mid-day...after lunch we would run out to the playground; we where merry children.

Little girls and little boys, the girls would all gather around and gossip about who was cute and who had cooties. Little boys talked about being brave, sports and other boyish things. A boy was known for picking on the girl they thought was pretty because he liked her. Pulling out the chair from beneath her, tugging on her pony tail and other rude little habits. Of course we where annoyed and some knew that meant he liked us and others cried about it to our mothers. As years went on and we grew up...school became harder, more was expected from a student and as a peer. Middle school was about being popular and high school was about having a boyfriend, a countless amount of friends and being prom queen. Then college came. Some of the girls we knew married their high school sweethearts other sweethearts broke up and went off to different schools. Others remained single, hoping that this time around they would find him...mister right.

No longer do girls deal with boys picking on them in a playful manner but instead the game has changed, now boys are scared to talk to us or say the wrong thing or get the wrong idea. Now what? What luck does a girl have now? Boys went from picking on us because they liked us to thinking we are pretty but say nothing about it, not even able to say hello. Then again there are the self indulge ones who feed off of low self-esteem, by calling us pretty and acting as if we are the only girls in the world because they are only after one thing...but I am not going to get into all that.

College. What is about college boys? So many types yet almost all alike; the same old class clown, mister good boy, the upbeat always ready for anything guy, the jock, the hip guy who follows all the trends and the list goes on and on. Some guys have a girl friend who their always wrapped around, others have a girlfriends and talk all about them but never do you see them together and then there are the single guys.

Only what is about the games guys play or is that even a game? Maybe that is what makes guys and girls so different; we both go on that "men are so complicated" and "women are so complicated", maybe just maybe thats how it should be...thats what makes love, making something complicated, easy. Then sadly when it gets too easy one of the players might lose intrest. But this post isn't about love or falling in love...I just have one question. Why is it so hard for guy to talk to a girl?

I know we have all heard that guys don't because they don't like being told "NO." So...girls are scared of the same word, no one really likes being told no, not even a pup begging for a scrap wants to be told no, so what is the real reason? Why can't it just go back to the old days, when playing a trick on a gal ment you liked her (not that we want to be tripped or anything of that sort), now it is sitting in the back of the room and never saying a word. Scary how much things have changed.

This post is just my mindless ranting...I really do wonder why and keep in mind that I am old fashion, I would never ask a guy out, not because I have fear of hearing "NO" but instead I have a fear of coming off as aggressive and that is just not me, so the last thing I want is a guy getting the wrong impression; but hey girls if you really like a guy let him know!

Have a great weekend!
Stay glam and fab!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARILYN!

As of today "Marilyn Monroe" Norma Jeane Baker would have turned 86; if only she had not left this world so soon.

Marilyn is one of my biggest icons, she is an example of how life can take the best of us. She struggled with depression, fear, insecurities and loneliness; something we all come face to face with in life. She was beautiful and no one will never be like her. The Monroe charisma was lost when Marilyn died.
My favorite Marilyn flicks are, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Some Like Hot and Don't Bother To Knock. She is a huge inspiration to me, I think of her when I am stuck with hard times or sadness and most have my characters have a part of their personality that reminds me of Marilyn. I can relate to what little I know of the real Norma, I understand some of the emotions she must have went through.

Marilyn Monroe still lives on and I hope she remains to live on into the near future and then some.

Have a great weekend, maybe watch a few Marilyn films!
